Snapshots

Two am. I sit on the gleaming kitchen medai [counter] with a tumbler of buttermilk to keep me company. Desultory forgotten sips. Lady Chatterley's Lover discarded carelessly by the side. Wishful thoughts flashing past in rapid succesion. Chain of things - big and small - that would make me perfectly happy. A definite integral stretching to infinity...

I look up and outside the window. Small stars strewn carelessly around on a black carpet. Wonder how it would feel it gather all of them in one scoop. They would probably be too bright for my eyes. The stars and the sky would make no sense without the view from the window and the kitchen medai to elevate me to the right height.

A shooting star. I close my eyes.

Time to make a new wish list -
Two am, buttermilk, medai, a window and Me.
Here. Now.
End of List.

Desultory? Where have I heard that before? Hmmm...

Very nice post. Would be nice to collect those stars in a scoop indeed, but what will I do with a sky devoid of those sprinkled sparkles?

I used to tell a (younger) cousin of mine to look anywhere in the sky on a clear night, and he would definitely find a star out there. Science ruined that theory of mine!! :-(

Hello! The stars don't come out at 2:00 hrs. They come out earlier as well (its like what a "wise" friend of mine told me, "Since you go early to bed i.e. around 21:30 hrs, and rise early enough, you only get to see the sunrise, right? Lucky you" Excuse me! the sun sets earlier). The stars come out much before 2:00 hrs. The only benefits of staying up so late is that you can hang upside down from the roof and flap your wings and no one will notice!!!
