Distance

You told me I was very close to your heart.
I didn't realise how right you were until...
It took me just one word and ten seconds
To walk out of your life.

Sadly, that is all it usually takes.

Take care...

Funny how we can never retrace those steps...funnier how we never want to either.

Cheers!

A careless word may kindle strife,
A cruel word may wreck a life,
A bitter word may hate instill and
A brutal word may smite and kill,

But a gracious word may smooth the way,
A joyous word may light the day,
A timely word may lessen stress and
A loving word may heal and bless.

Lets hope that we churn out more of the latter than the former.

"It took me just one word and ten seconds" Walking away from somebody isnt as simple as it sounds.....

It is interesting with what is left unsaid in this verse. What is said is clear but I suppose what is left unsaid speaks of greater depth and passion.
To walk away from one's life and still realise the closenes that one retains inspite of the literal/figurative distance that you maintain from that person's life, is an amazing feeling.
To return after a decade to a run down town and still find this person, who is on with his/her life like others, still warmly in love with you as if the decade was but a slow blink of the eye ... that is beautiful. That is true closeness. That is what one realises when one can leave your life and still return to the warm hug and soft hum of your voice... as if nothing changed.
The word is but a word.
A moment is but an ephemeral one.
A heart is but one that beats.
But love is what sets these words to the tune of that beat, for ever and ever...

Nice verse. :-)
